Pork burgers with fresh apple slices and rocket, generated illustration

Pork and Apple Burgers with Rocket

Lalkila Kitchen · Pork · Meat · Main dishes · Western influenced

Fresh apple slices provide a crisp contrast to a pork patty in this compact supper. The apple is added after cooking, not grated into the meat. Miriam Nice’s source uses sausagemeat, so its seasoning is already part of the patty. Check what your particular sausage mixture contains before adding more salt or choosing it for a shared meal.

Ingredients

  • 300 g pork sausagemeat
  • 4 wholemeal burger buns
  • 4 tsp onion marmalade
  • 2 apples, cored and thinly sliced
  • 2 handfuls rocket
  • 2 tsp mayonnaise
  • A little English mustard, optional

Method

  1. Shape sausagemeat into four even patties. Cook in a non-stick pan, turning as needed, until each centre reaches 71°C.
  2. Split and toast buns. Wash the apple and rocket and prepare them with clean utensils away from raw pork.
  3. Spread bun bases with onion marmalade. Add patties, apple, rocket, mayonnaise and optional mustard, then close and serve.

Cooking notes

A thermometer is more reliable than judging the outside colour of a sausage patty. Keep the patties similar in thickness so one does not lag behind the rest. Mayonnaise, mustard, buns and sausagemeat can introduce different allergens. This is explicitly a pork recipe; give guests the ingredient information rather than assuming a familiar-looking burger suits every household.
