Dark Chocolate Yoghurt with Orange
Lalkila Kitchen · Vegetarian · Desserts · Western influenced · Contemporary cooking
Melted dark chocolate mixes into yoghurt above a layer of chopped orange. The dessert uses neither eggs nor a baked custard method. Prepare the orange before assembly and let the chocolate cool slightly before introducing the yoghurt.
Ingredients
- 25 g 85% dark chocolate, broken up
- 150 g low-fat plain yoghurt
- 1 small orange
- A few mint leaves for serving
Method
- Melt chocolate in short microwave bursts or in a heatproof bowl over simmering water without touching the water. Cool briefly and stir in a little yoghurt.
- Finely grate zest from half the orange. Remove peel and pith and chop the flesh, removing tough membrane if necessary.
- Stir remaining yoghurt and zest into chocolate. Put orange in small glasses and spoon chocolate mixture over it. Keep chilled and add mint to serve.
Cooking notes
Grate the zest before cutting away the peel, while the orange is still easy to hold. Keep water out of the melting chocolate and avoid overheating it. The orange forms a separate layer rather than being blended into the yoghurt.
