Buying cookware for induction: check the base as well as the pan

Compatibility belongs to the specific model
A familiar cookware brand does not guarantee that every pan in its range works on induction. Before ordering, find the compatibility statement for the particular model and compare it with your hob's instructions.
Prestige's induction guidance explains the role of magnetic material in the base and suggests checking the packaging or use-and-care instructions. It also describes a magnet check as a clue. The manufacturer's model information remains important; this is not a claim that every metal pan will work.
Measure the part that sits on the hob
The diameter across a wok's rim can be much larger than its flat base. Prestige points out that the magnetic flat-base diameter matters for the hob's minimum pan size. Check the appliance manual rather than choosing only by the advertised top diameter.
Make a short comparison sheet: overall size, flat base size, capacity, weight and stated hob compatibility. Include the handle and lid in your space planning. A pan that technically works may still be inconvenient if it is difficult to lift when full or occupies most of the available cooking area.
Think about everyday use
Consider which meals you cook most often. A deep pot for dal, a broad pan for reducing a sauce and a tawa for bread have different jobs. Buying the largest set may leave you with several pieces that duplicate one another while missing the one shape you need.
Read cleaning, heat and utensil guidance before the first use. Lift rather than drag cookware over a glass hob, following the appliance and pan instructions. Keep the model details so future care questions can be answered precisely. If a listing does not identify compatibility clearly, ask before ordering; a confident guess based on a product photograph is a poor substitute for the right specification.
